We'll be in the tavern on
Earwickersnight
Saturday, April 7th, 2012
actual date of Finnegans Wake
.

This year we celebrate Earwickersnight on April 7th
in honor of Peter Reichenberg's discovery, based on his knowledge and research of The Beautiful Game (known locally as soccer), that the tavern chapter we've been reading took place on April 7, 1928, which is thus the date for the entire work. (See JJQ, Winter 2009)

That year it was Holy Saturday, a night of significance according to Christian
mythology, the eve of the Resurrection. And this year April 7th is also Holy
Saturday according to the ecclesiastical calendar!
(This won't happen again until 2091.)
So it's the perfect day to celebrate the Wake.

Our theme this year is
WOMAN RIVER: SHE JUST KEEPS ROLLING
to celebrate the motherforce: Anna Livia Plurabelle.

We'll have another world debut of a composition
by our group composer Steve Pantani,

based on music associated with ALP.

Wake songs selected and sung by soprano
KATE HURNEY
accompanied by Will Robinson

A few rounds of  "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?"
about the Wake will feature Roman Tsivkin's erudite daughter Arianna.

More songs for our continuing sing-a-long
will focus on those we encountered in the text during the last year.

So mark your calendar and tell your friends
and literary enthusiasts.
See you downstairs at Lilly O'Briens on April 7th.
